The Paper Bag Princess

by
Robert Munseh

A beautiful princess, Elizabeth, loses everything when a dragon burns her castle down and carries off her fiancé, Prince Ronald. The only thing she can find to wear is a paper bag, which she makes into a dress. Elizabeth finds the dragon by following a train of burnt wreckage. When she gets to the dragon’s cave, she tricks the dragon into tiring himself out, then sneaks past him while he’s asleep. She finds Ronald and offers to rescue him, but he tells her to come back when she looks more like a princess. Elizabeth tells Ronald that he’s a bum, and they don’t get married after all.
