ScienceBoost! Hands-on Biology, Chemistry & Physics

Science for many students is reading a textbook, answering questions, and watching videos of other people doing science. In ScienceBoost!, Students will get to be the scientists.

The course will be a broad tour through the three major branches of science: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Students will learn the science behind the projects that they do, but each day will involve a series of hands-on demonstrations and experiments.  Students will use a wide range of scientific tools and get to explore both the beautiful and the gross (and sometime both at the same time!) aspects of science.

Students will grow their own bacteria cultures and look through microscopes to see how clean or gross their phones really are. They will explore chemistry by learning/creating their own chemicals and understanding their properties. For example, how/why does dish soap clean pots and pans so well? With physics, they'll learn about projectile motion by building catapults. Not only will students do the hands-on work of performing experiments, but they'll learn the science and the math behind the them.
