Math Computation 1

Description: This download includes a blank pretest/post-test and a complete answer key for that test. Use this test to find out what math skills students need to work on. The test covers basic math computation skills, from 1st through 6th grade (although the test covers 1-6 skills, we recommend the tests for students in grades 2 and up), including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers (of various sizes), decimals, fractions, and integers. Each skill is aligned with a California math standard. And, we consider these computation skills to be the foundational math skills that all students should know. How to Use This Pretest: Along the right hand side of the test, skill categories are listed, along with grade levels. Students should take the test, starting from the top, and working down until they have tried every row of problems that includes their grade level or lower (there are some third grade skill on the second page -- don't forget to look at the whole test). Once the test is complete, use the answer key to grade the test, see what skills are missing. If EdBoost provides reports based on this test, that report will include pathways to find practice worksheets for each skill on this computer system. Use the test to find the skills that need work, do the practice, and you should have a great computational foundation. Then you're ready for pre-algebra and word problems! Good luck! Note: Although this test contains grades 1-6 skills, it is most appropriate for students who are in at least 2nd grade. Foundational skills for younger students contain a lot of number sense skills that are not represented on this test. Choose a Kindergarten or 1st grade pretest for younger students.
