Word Problems: Multiplication and Division (no remainders)

Description: This packet helps students learn to read word problems and decide if they should use multiplication or division to solve the problems. Word problems give students practice recognizing key words that indicate multiplication and division (e.g., in all, each, etc.). All problems use multiplication and division without remainders. 

Sample Problem(s)

Solve the word problems. Please show all of your work. Use labels in your answers.  

Simple: There are 9 flowers. If each flower has 6 petals, how many petals are there in all?  

Advanced: I bought 12 buttons for my 3 cousins. If each cousin gets the same number of buttons, how many buttons will each cousin get? 

Notes

Students should be able to read at grade level and know how to multiply and divide without remainders to be able to complete these word problems independently.
