When we think of science, the first picture we imagine is of the mad scientist, in a lab coat and goggles, standing behind bubbling test-tubes and a Bunsen burner. Unfortunately, until high school (and sometimes even until college) our students rarely get to experience this type of chemistry.
If your child dreams of the bubbling test tubes, sign up for ChemistryBoost!
The course will be a broad tour through a wide range of chemistry, from basic chemistry (making precipitates and changing other chemical properties), to biochemistry (DNA isolation), to food chemistry. Not only will students do the hands-on work of performing experiments, but they'll learn the basic chemistry and math behind the experiments, from balancing chemical equations, to doing basic stoichiometry, to doing algebraic mixture problems (every math student's nemesis but so much easier to understand when those concentrations are paired with varyingly strong lemonade!).
We'll only do an explosion if we can do it safely, but we're already trying to figure out how to make that happen.
We'll provide the goggles. :)
