Decimals: Ordering (Hundredths Place) Puzzle
Common Core Grade Level:
Four "jokes" that students solve by ordering numbers with decimals up to the hundredths place. Students order sets of numbers (from 7 to 13 numbers in a set). Each number is associated with a letter. Students order the numbers and then write the letters in the same order. Each set of numbers solves a joke, such a "What jam can't be eaten on toast?" "A traffic jam."
Students should be able to order numbers that have whole numbers (ones place) and decimals (up to hundredths place). Students must also be able to read at grade level to solve and understand the jokes. The first page of each packet is available for viewing by clicking on the image on the right.
