# Multi-Step Equations: Combining Like Terms

Packet includes:
34 practice problems and an answer key.

This packet helps students practice how to solve equations where they have to combine like terms (terms that have the same variable to the same power).  These are fairly simple equations, requiring only basic arithmetic, but they help students practice working with longer and more complicated looking equations.  Combining like terms is one of the first types of "simplifying" that students should do when they start working on an equations.

Each page starts with easier problems that get more difficult as students work through the packet. After doing all 34 problems, students should be more comfortable doing these problems and have a clear understanding of how to solve them.

Sample Problem(s):

Solve for x.

Simple: $2x-2= x$

Advanced: $-x+2x-3x+10=-14$

Notes:

Practice problems require knowledge of how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers.
