Word Problems: Addition/Subtraction (Basic - Addition/Subtraction Facts)
Description: This packet helps students learn to read word problems and decide if they should use addition or subtraction to solve the problems. Word problems give students practice recognizing key words that indicate addition and subtraction (e.g., in total, in all, left, more, etc.). All problems use basic addition and subtraction facts (to 20), so students should be able to easily complete the math once they decide on the number sentence they should use.
Solve the word problems. Please show all of your work. Use labels in your answers.
Simple: If your mom makes 20 cookies, and you eat 4 of them, how many cookies will be left?
Students should be able to read at grade level and know the addition/subtraction facts to 20 to be able to complete these word problems independently.
